The Alaska Airlines Dawg Dash event is an annual 10K run and 5K walk/run race that has been produced by the UW Alumni Association for over 30 years. The event brings over 4,000 alumni, students and staff together for a community run and social event, complete with vendor booths, give-aways, food and a “pups run” for kids.
Promotion for the event includes printed posters and promotional cards, emails, website post, and lots of social media. Participants receive a t-shirt, medal, lanyard, race bib and various give-aways, and the event day logistics are supported by the multitude of signs, banners, badges and handouts that make the day go smoothly for participants. Below is a small selection of the many deliverables that I designed and managed through production for the 2019 event.
Visual Design and Production
InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
Each year, the logo is updated or redesigned, and generally incorporates a dog. I designed the 2019 logo to be used with and without a campus image in the background.
Posters and cards were distributed around town and at other UW events, and several emails were sent to past participants, and Alumni Association members and friends, over a 10-week period. Other promotion included a social media campaign and a slide included in a pre-lecture slide show. Below are a few examples.
Items I designed for the event day included a medal, lanyard, t-shirt and race bib for participants, hats for volunteers, badges for staff, vendors and volunteers, and stickers and t-shirts for kids. I also designed numerous banners and A-board signs to help make the day easy for participants, identify vendor tents, and promote sponsors.
